Pentagon's Design on the Internet

We all know that when something 'new' is disclosed, revealed, or brought out, the first step is to disbelieve and discredit....then down the road it becomes an accepted truth.
This may not be on the "top shelf" of what the Pentagon is dealing with at this time, but to find articles concerning it is disheartening enough. What really bothers me is that they want to monitor our usuage and change what we can access on the internet, if it does not go along with 'US government themes'. Free Speech is slipping away. Who decides what is deemed 'US themed' and what isn't? This could ultimately change daily on our President's whim, according to whom he hates today or tomorrow. We will only know what they want us to know, no more online research finding non-partisan information. If you think this can't be done, take a look at China's control on their internet access. Isn't OUR government supposed to answer to us the People, and not vice versa in a Democratic state? We are quickly becoming sucked into a world-copy of George Orwell's "1984".
As far as the Pentagon is concerned the internet is not all bad, after all, it was the Department of Defense through DARPA that gave us the internet in the first place. The internet is useful not only as a business tool but also is excellent for monitoring and tracking users, acclimatizing people to a virtual world, and developing detailed psychological profiles of every user, among many other Pentagon positives. But, one problem with the current internet is the potential for the dissemination of ideas and information not consistent with US government themes and messages, commonly known as free speech. Naturally, since the plan was to completely dominate the "infosphere," the internet would have to be adjusted or replaced with an upgraded and even more Pentagon friendly successor.
Pentagon: The internet needs to be dealt with as if it were an enemy "weapons system"

Obama's Plan for the Middle East

Senator Obama claims he is the candidate who will end the war in Iraq once he is in office and bring the soldiers home as quickly as humanely possible. According to his website,
Obama will immediately begin to remove our troops from Iraq. He will remove one to two combat brigades each month, and have all of our combat brigades out of Iraq within 16 months. Obama will make it clear that we will not build any permanent bases in Iraq. He will keep some troops in Iraq to protect our embassy and diplomats; if al Qaeda attempts to build a base within Iraq, he will keep troops in Iraq or elsewhere in the region to carry out targeted strikes on al Qaeda.
That sounds good. Our troops will begin leaving Iraq and start coming home. Right? Well, according to a speech Senator Obama gave to the American Israeli Political Action Committee (AIPAC), he said,
That is why I advocate a phased redeployment of U.S. troops out of Iraq to begin no later than May first with the goal of removing all combat forces from Iraq by March 2008. In a civil war where no military solution exists, this redeployment remains our best leverage to pressure the Iraqi government to achieve the political settlement between its warring factions that can slow the bloodshed and promote stability.
My plan also allows for a limited number of U.S. troops to remain and prevent Iraq from becoming a haven for international terrorism and reduce the risk of all-out chaos. In addition, we will redeploy our troops to other locations in the region, reassuring our allies that we will stay engaged in the Middle East…..
….As the U.S. redeploys from Iraq, we can recapture lost influence in the Middle East. We can refocus our efforts to critical, yet neglected priorities, such as combating international terrorism and winning the war in Afghanistan. And we can, then, more effectively deal with one of the greatest threats to the United States, Israel and world peace: Iran….
….Iran's President Ahmadinejad's regime is a threat to all of us. His words contain a chilling echo of some of the world's most tragic history…..In the 21st century, it is unacceptable that a member state of the United Nations would openly call for the elimination of another member state. But that is exactly what he has done. Neither Israel nor the United States has the luxury of dismissing these outrages as mere rhetoric.
The world must work to stop Iran's uranium enrichment program and prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. It is far too dangerous to have nuclear weapons in the hands of a radical theocracy. And while we should take no option, including military action, off the table, sustained and aggressive diplomacy combined with tough sanctions should be our primary means to prevent Iran from building nuclear weapons.
So, it sounds to me, Senator Obama simply plans to leave the quagmire of Iraq just to set the stage for a bigger quagmire in Iran. Now, I understand that everyone has their feelings about Iran and its leadership. I imagine that the people of Iran probably carry the same emotions about Americans and its leadership. But, where is the justification in maintaining a strong military presence in the Middle East as an intimidation factor against a country which, to date, has not taken any forceful action against its neighbors.
Yes, Iran is enriching uranium…..for energy. I, personally, do not support the use of nuclear energy. It is an unstable and dangerous energy source. There are so many cleaner options: wind, solar and hydroelectric just to name a few. But, that is an entirely different post.
But, let's assume for a moment that Iran did develop nuclear weapons. There are ten nations in the world that currently have nuclear weapons including, of course, the United States, Russia….and Israel. Isn't it the right of nations to defend themselves? After the Cold War, the United States and the USSR demonstrated the nuclear détente could prevent nuclear annihilation. So, if Iran feels threatened by the only nuclear power in the region, should they not have the right to maintain an equal level of security?
I, personally, do not see the benefit in military action. Most often, innocent people die and nothing really gets solved. I read a story on the Hundred's Year War that was fought between England and France six centuries ago. After over a century of fighting over religion, the two sides decided to call it quits because they really did not see any positive outcome from the continued aggression towards each other. After over one hundred years? How long will it take us to get there?

Bush x2?

Chance of Bush again?

This is resurfacing again....

National Security and Homeland Security Presidential Directive

The Hillary/Monsanto Connection

The Hillary/Monsanto Connection

Monsanto.
A company most of us know as the biggest herbicide maker (Roundup), producer of aspartame (until sold in 2000), and even Agent Orange.
YET, after reading on another blog about the connection between Hillary Clinton and Monsanto I thought I would do a little research and find out what was raising the hair on the back of my neck.
After first looking at the Monsanto company's website, I knew that I would find nothing that showed their true-dealings. So I went to one of my favorite links, the Organic Consumers Association

Well, Monsanto is the corporation behind genetically-modified seeds/food and the Synthetic Bovine Growth Hormone.
I've caught a few headlines about the Bovine Hormone and it's hazards and have been slowly following. I was surprised that the details of this company and all it's outreach into the pockets of many politians, it's control over silencing prominent scientists, and it's once board members now in leading positions in our own government.
....and we are all worried about lead paint in toys? the chemicals in shampoos? the chemicals in the baby powder you use on your children?
WHAT about the food we eat? The milk we drink?
The genectically Engineered Bovine Growth Hormine (rBGH), which Monsanto is battling to not be listed on our milk labels, produces a cancer tumor promotor called IGF-1. Studies have shown that people with higher levels of IGF-1 suffer from higher rates of Colon and Breast Cancer. Milk is good for us????
Not Monsanto rBGH milk! No wonder why the Monsanto Company started an initiative to remove the rBGH labeling from our food products.
Now Genetically-Modified seeds for corn, cotton, soybeans, canola, and even fruits and vegetables. Do you ever stop to wonder what this is doing to our food? That can of corn you open, that canola oil you cook with, the soda you drink, and the candy you give your kids. Is it harming us?
A scientific study, by Dr. Pusztai, on Genetically-Modified Corn showed serious damage to the immune system, stunted growth, and altered the chemistry of the blood. Upon voicing his study and concerns, his research was stopped and his study findings confiscated. This man was the World's top authority in his field! This pretty much sums it up for me as to how much control Monsanto has with the government(s).
Yet Monsanto continues to supply farmers with this seed, alters their studies, and even states on their own website, that their Corporate Pledge is...."We want to make the world a better place for future generations." Sounds like Corporate Hypocrisy to me!
Water Water everywhere....but don't drink Monsanto's!
Another eye-catching Corporate duplisitic action for me is how Monsanto has been contaminating the world's water supply with their chemicals, and now they see a DOUBLE profit in doing so. They are PRIVATELY taking control of this water, filtering, and selling back the water. Yes, it's a good thing they are seeming to care and clean up the water they themselves have pollueted. YET, to purchase public water resourses and re-sell?

Take Action!
Sign the Millions Against Monsanto Petition
Demanding that the Monsanto Corporation:
Stop intimidating small family farmers.
Stop force-feeding untested and unlabeled genetically engineered foods on consumers.
Stop using billions of dollars of US taypayers' money to subsidize genetically engineered crops - cotton, soybeans, corn, and canola.

If you are asking "why bother, leave it up to the FDA"....well....
Monsanto was required to submit to the FDA a report on the safety of their growth hormones. This report was done by Margaret Miller, a Monsanto researcher, but before the report was submitted to the FDA she left Monsanto and was hired by....

....(inserts drum roll)....

....the FDA!!!!

Want to know what her first job was? To approve the report SHE wrote for Monsanto!

Obviously we as a people need to stand up and start taking back control.
In a time when we are seeing rapid increases in cancer, childhood obesity, and dwindling food supplies around the world, should we be placing the control of our seeds, harvests, dairy products,in a company that is genectically altering them? Look at what this company is doing to farmers around the world, their strong-arming tactics are scary.
What does this all have to do with Hillary Clinton?
She worked for the Rose Law Firm, who represents Monsanto, and yes this is the same Rose Law Firm that became infamous during the Whitewater scandal.
Also, a Monsanto Lobbyist planned her "Rural Americans for Hilary". Rural Americans? Sounds like a cover-up for big money, not small farmers support.

I think before I consider giving Hillary my vote, I'd like to hear a little more on her feelings on what the Monsanto Coorporation is doing to our Nation.
I wonder who will dig that dirt out into the National Media!

'A Beautiful Lie' --Filmed in Greenland

'A Beautiful Lie' filmed in Greenland--
Check out this video: A Beautiful Lie

Not very often does a Band consider the impact their filming and recording has on the environment. So when 30 Seconds to Mars (as you know is our top favoriteeeeeeeeeee band of all) took part by teaming with the NRDC and Bonneville Environmental Foundation in order to offset the impact of filming, we were very excited and wanted to share.
It's a great video, the first video shot 200 miles North of the Arctic Circle in Greenland. In two years time, almost 1/4 of the Arctic Ice Shelf has melted, and it's time for all of us to wake up and do our part. If not for ourselves, think of your children and the next generations.....what will happen?!

Mt. Baker & Geothermal Power Plant Exploration

This is very interesting in a time when they are talking about more nuclear power plants. It's years down the road, but hopefully the applications will be approved and not "reshuffled" yet again.
Vulcan Power Company wants to build a Geothermal Power Plant in the Mt. Baker area that would tap into the underground steam created by the heat inside the volcano. These Geothermal Plants have small carbon footprints and virtually no emissions. Vulcan's plans thus far are to keep in line with the natural surroundings, using rock, soil and the vegetation on the walls and roof of their facilities to blend in with the beautiful mountain landscape. It's also stated that the pending applications held by Vulcan P. Company could supply enough energy for 2 million people. WOW!
On a side-note.....these geothermal power plant explorations were a "pet project" by the big oil companies back in the '80's....guess they went for the big bucks instead...surprise!

Entering the Blog World

Just a quick hello-introduction before we begin here.
We are a married couple that live in the Pacific North West. We love the area! Love getting out and exploring, and sharing our experiences thru words and photographs. Up until now we had spread our thoughts out on different forum boards, online journals, writing spaces, and our MySpace page. We decided to pull it all together and just form one Blog for our thoughts & musings, our rants & raves, and our angst & annoyances.
The changes in our world scare us-- global warming, war for oil, hunger, genocide, and Imperialism.
Here in the United States, our leaders are stepping too quickly from the foundation of our Democratic State and the words of our Constitution.
We must find balance with our Planet, nuture Nature, and come together in Harmony.
Thank you and here we go....
